VB City FC Announces Multi-Year Training Facility Agreement in Hampton Roads
VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA (November 8, 2017) – Virginia Beach City FC announces a multi-year agreement with the Norfolk Collegiate Athletic Complex (NCS).
"Our partnership with Norfolk Collegiate continues to affirm our commitment to building a nationally recognized, first class soccer club from the youth to professional levels," said VB City FC President and Owner Steven Wagoner.
The $2.6M sports facility was constructed by FieldTurf in 2015 featuring two professional grade 70x110 yard artificial turf fields with six state-of-the-art lights. FieldTurf is an industry leader proven to provide the most grass-like playability according to a Prozone independent study.
International professional clubs that play and practice on FieldTurf include: FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, AC Milian, Inter Milan and Juventus. Specifically in the United States, MLS clubs New England Revolution, Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers and Atlanta United FC play on FieldTurf.
"Providing our players with professional quality staff, equipment and facilities is a top priority for our organization," Wagoner stated.
VB City FC will have access to the facility up to seven days a week for training and academy matches. Academy players do not need to worry about poor weather conditions or lack of daylight interfering with their programs.
"This partnership gives us the stability and consistency needed to ensure our players will receive an excellent training and match environment," said VB City FC Head Coach and VP of Operations, Brian Hinkey. "It will certainly serve the Norfolk and Hampton Roads soccer community, and will continue to be a fantastic platform for the growth of the game and the quality of programming we can provide."
The Virginia Beach City FC Academy launched in 2016 and has since grown to 24 youth teams with over 450 tryout participants last May. Most recently, the VB City FC Academy U15 Boys competed in the semi final of the Virginia State Cup, ranking them as one of the top 4 teams in Virginia.
The Norfolk Collegiate Athletic Complex is conveniently located minutes from Interstate 64, giving easy access to surrounding Hampton Road cities: Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Hampton and Newport News.
All professional First Team matches will continue to be played at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex Stadium.
